This may sound like grumbling, but it’s happened several times now and I need a space to went.
We had a very busy, albeit short, tourist season here in #Istria. As always, we had a lot of #Italian #guests. It’s common, since it’s so close to #Italy and, dare I say, the #beaches are so much nicer. 😊 In the reviews everybody praises our place and hospitality. But! We rarely get the highest mark from the (1/3)

One of the big problems with the #daytime, and perhaps fellow #Australians have noticed this, is the #temperature keeps changing. Including if you go from direct #sunlight to shade. At least with the #night you know its going to be cold and can prepare just for that.

As per usual the #Italians have a remedy for this — they just #sleep during the hottest part of the #day.

You know, I know that k*gals was doing the “edgy joke” thing about fascism running in her blood because she’s Italian (although we all know the edgy joke thing is ALSO an alt right strat but I digress) but it’s worth pointing out that, ya know like one of the most famous anti-fascist songs is an Italian song. The Italians themselves killed Mussolini. And there were plenty of Italian partisans. Appropriateness of her joke aside, it’s very telling which sort of 1940’s Italian she chose to identify with.

Today would have been my dads 95th birthday, my brothers and I attended a lunch for Patronato ACLI Christmas lunch and we raised a glass for dad and talked about the purpose of the organisation to keep Italians active and connected. It was so cool to hear their ideas for activities including a choir, trips to Moree, the Hunter Valley, chestnut picking and more.
