Random thoughts on #negramaro #wine. I've tried it three times and I'm quite puzzled by this grape. I'm not sure if it's because I've tried bad examples or if it's a more difficult grape to handle then Primitivo. They all tasted overly tannic, almost giving an aftertaste of scorched ground. They were all IGPs which is not the best of quality, granted, but I can't find a reasonably priced #SaliceSalentino or #NegramaroD'Otranto in the UK. Will have a look once in Italy. #italianwine #winelover

We've tried our first #falanghina #wine and it was great. Pronounced orange and floral notes, deep gold in colour. I liked it from the beginning, my Richard found it a bit too sweet at first while I didn't. But he changed his assessment by the end #winelover #winetasting #italianwine

There are so many #Italian distributors around but so many of them have good #wine ... this was from Friday when Vinifera stopped by with some oldies but goodies. This book is honestly a little weird but there are some #wines that I absolutely love in it!

This lineup alone highlights three wineries (Barberani, Notaio, and Contesa) and have some stellar wines ... plus, just look at that Polago label!

Well that didn't go well!! I think the corkscrew went in slightly off vertical and after some furious pulling on the corkscrew the cork broke. Managed to screw the corkscrew into the remains of the cork and was able to retrieve it without any falling into the bottle (I think)

I don't really like to drink #wine alone but decided for once to make an exception to my rule tonight, after a rough day at work. I have been curious to try #Soave Classico since I heard about it in #winefornormalpeople and found one in Lidl. I bought with an open mind and low expectations. It was actually decent, more interesting then an average Chardonnay for sure. Very floral, easy to drink, fresh citrus finish. If this was a cheap version, I'm expecting great things from a middle range one. I liked it! I had it with ravioli as main and pork as a second. #winetasting #winelover #italianwine

First taste of a #moscatodasti #wine. I'm personally against spumanti, but I don't mind fizzy wines. This one tasted like ripe melon and honey. Interesting fun wine, something very different from the average wine. #italianwine #winelover #winetasting

#Liguria, land of #whitewine. So let's go with an unusual red instead! My first #Rossese and it was totally unexpected. Almost brown in colour (2018 vintage) and taste wise, I'd describe it as spicy and peppery. Maybe I was simply too tired to pay attention to detect more but I really enjoyed it and recommend it. #wine #italianwine #winelover
