In the book, written in 1935, ‘United States is torn apart by a flamboyant blowhard politician who uses fearmongering and empty promises to the working class to win election before consolidating his power, shattering the traditions of governance, breaking any laws that constrain him, and stoking paranoia and division.’.

interesting artIcle about #KennethJohnson, the creator of the 80’s #VTheSeries. Originally conceived along the lines of #ItCantHappenHere, the network forced him to add Aliens, believing that Americans wouldn’t “get” a story about fascism. Fired after the first mini series, he is now trying to bring it back as a film. Meanwhile, Qanon types have adopted his work in the totally opposite direction - as an example of the “Lizard People” trope.
