We contrive language to somehow, anyhow, for godssake get an idea from my cage of bone to your cage of bone. Idly chasing a concept through the dictionary can illuminate the desperation (silliness?) of the whole thing.

For instance, "Pannetier's green" is "Guignet's green" is "Mittler's green." Not to be confused with "invisible green" or heavens forfend "duck green" ...

It's arbitrary all the way down.
