In research with colleagues from the #ITUC on global labor standards years ago, we found that corps went to great effort #GreenWashing their supply chains. What we also found, however, was that the presence of basic democratic rights for workers--ie the presence of real unions--was one of the key ways to insure respect for rights and decent standard of living. We need to find a way to provide such democracy for the environment as well.
