DDOTDC is an abysmal agency. They're going to try to shut down streeteries, claiming ADA but the miles of broken, criminally narrow, unmaintaned sidewalks are still going to be there. They're concern trolls. Some sidewalks in my neighborhood are impassable by even one person. People in my neighborhood just walk in the streets, and have for decades.

The old Winery space used to be Love/Dream, [which in the tradition of DC straight clubs, change names after the number of appearances in the police blotter become too numerous] so it's doable but they'd have to do a lot of work with the community, which remembers how awful the previous club was for the neighborhood.

One of the things that I know to be true is that my odds of ever running into the people with these very loud opinions is extremely low because they live in neighborhoods with Metrorail and rarely depend on #MetroBus, or cabs or rideshares, or getting rides to get around. #WashingtonDC #IvyCityDC #wmata

I've been mulling over whether I want to post this at all but the amount of people who do not live in Ivy City having opinions about it is getting on my last nerve. It's always sad when a business closes in a neighborhood like this, and we've had a string of closures the past few years so it hits harder.

Yes, crime is up. Yes, there's underreporting. Yes these are factors. As is less than ideal bus reliability, higher ride share fares etc.

I will always be a foreigner and not and it's OK. I was never gonna fit in anyway, with a straight culture I found foreign anyway.

So I'll walk til I get home to my neighborhood where I have my own relationships. Where, despite or even bc it's not the place to be, I feel at home. House really too small but... #washingtondc #ivycitydc
