Eleven (55%) cases sustained eye injuries while two (10%) cases had injuries requiring amputation. Boga (6 cases, 30%), Kwitis (3 cases, 15%), and Whistle Bomb (3 cases, 15%) were the most common type of fireworks involved. Boga is a homemade (illegal) firework. #IwasPaputok para iwas disgrasya. Today marks the start of our annual Fireworks-Related Injury (FWRI) sentinel surveillance! Last year, we recorded 188 injuries due to fireworks and 1 stray bullet injury.
