Apparently there’s a compound #ZeroDay flaw in #iOS 16, #macOS #Ventura and #Safari 16. Update at your earliest convenience, especially if you test sketchy sites with Safari.

It’s very odd moving from a phone with a #TouchID button and #iOS 15 to no button and iOS 16. And #FaceID, which I’m not sure I want to keep on given how readily it recognizes me. Many years of ‘muscle memory’ to unlearn.
And of course Apple couldn’t keep the ‘shade pull’ for Control Center, they had to disable the left 2/3 of the top edge because ???

Currently justifying to myself the purchase of a new phone because:
1. I get to 2x the model number (7Plus->14ProMax)
2. Apple finally stopped updating my phone after 5 years.
3. 5.5 years is enough
4. Having the battery drop to 50% between desk & car is not good. Even if I rarely leave my desk.
5. I’m running out of random rubber bands to hold the fucking stupid lightning connector in because of Apple’s profoundly bad design and stubborn NIH syndrome.

I have 3 different flavors of VPN that I must use for different customers and our own segmentation/isolation structure. Often more than one at a time. We will see how this goes…

Finally biting the bullet and upgrading my laptop to Big Sur. Once upon a time I would take a stack of floppies to my neighborhood #Apple dealer on release day and get a copy as fast as they could get it from AppleLink.

Now I hold back years, until they stop doing updates and something comes up on the old system that I don’t want to deal with.

I hope I don’t regret this…
