Chinese automaker JAC Motors developed the world’s first sodium-ion battery-powered electric vehicle. Sodium-ion batteries are cheaper, safer, and more environmentally friendly than lithium-ion batteries, and they can overcome the challenges of raw material supply and recycling. The Hua Xianzi (Flower Fairy) vehicle can cover up to 250 kilometres on a single charge.
