I struggled to commit to #FondaLee's #JadeCity, so I swapped it for the #AfricaRisen anthology and it's amazing right out of the gate. The second story by #WCDunlap is, as aptly described by the author, a "witchy reimagining of the March on Washington".

Ich höre schon auf, einer geht noch! Seit Martins ersten drei (de: sechs) #ASoIaF (#TV: #GOT) Büchern, ist mir kein so mitreißendes (Urban) #Fantasy - #Buch wie Lee's #JadeCity untergekommen! Eine krasse Mischung aus #TheGodfather #kungfuHustle (#IntenalAffairs #NewWorld(?)). Ich finde ja ohnehin, aus Asien (#Korea, früher #Hongkong) kommen die besten #Action-#Thriller).
Hier ist der Jade-Magie-Drogen-Twist beeindruckend. Sicher nicht für jederfrau/-mann, aber ich bin sehr begeistert! Enjoy.

Holy smokes, what a ride!!!

In my humble opinion, one of the finest #fantasy (#urbanfantasy) books in years!!! I'm intrigued.

Highly #recommended - if you like someone fresh, something different in fairytale land!

Well, it took a while, but now the matter escalated considerably!

At least the last action scene was wildly, brutal and engaging - after the situation had come to a noticeable head.

I am beginning to understand why Fonda Lee "s #JadeCity is so celebrated.

While I start with the much-hyped #JadeCity by #FondaLee, Richard Swan's #JusticeofKings echoes surprisingly. Should the author be able to maintain or even build on the level, I think he has delivered a modern #fantasy classic. I'm interested to know if the author knows the #manga #masterpiece #LoneWolfandCub.
I prefer #thrillers, but there are also some exciting voices in the #fantasy genre.

I‘m a huge #Wuxia (#movies) fan, and the blurb reminded me a bit of #KungFuHustle - without its nonsense. I expect something like #TheGodfather set in an Asian #Fantasy world with #magic and #KungFu.

I am curious, but do not have great expectations.

#JadeCity: An absolutely fantastic debut. A rich and interesting setting, Fonda Lee effortlessly sets up the intricacies of the not so underground underworld of Janloon.

Lan, Hilo, Shae and Anden are excellently realised, each bringing something different to the story, allowing for the exploration of the world in their own way.

My one criticism is the pacing, it would start ramping up, only to dip again. It dipped in ways that make sense but still will throw off some readers.

Started reading Fonda Lee’s #JadeCity, it is really enjoyable so far. The writing is very deliberate and her choices in how she names things is great, makes it very easy to quickly understand what a given title means. The only things I am not groking with ease is the honourifics, but I think that is mostly because I am not used to dealing with those types of honourifics. I am very much enjoying the characters, each is very different in nature and personality to the others.
