So today, we're gonna highlight really weird, really obscure arcade game. In Momoko 120%, you play as the titular Momoko as she (inexplicably) runs through burning buildings and shoots alien-like creatures with a gun. Even more inexplicably, the game takes place at five times in her life- at ages 4/8/12/16/20, which comprise the levels of the game (why does she keep winding up in this situation??)

Exerion might appear as Yet Another Space Shooter, but it has an interesting trick up its sleeve- a clever way of representing depth as the player flies into the screen. As you can see from the gifs, color bands get "thicker" as they travel towards the screen, alongside sprites that move over the "horizon" (the farthest band) and scroll towards the screen as well. Pretty neat!

Hoy, en mi cruzada por completar (y disfrutar) cuantos más juegos mejor de la franquicia #Evercade (para eso me estoy pillando todos los cartuchos, no?), le ha tocado a dos arcades de Jaleco:

1. El mítico "Astyanax": un plataformas de espada y brujería con power-ups, de dificultad endiablada... y que te rompe los esquemas cuando el último nivel es una mezcla entre un cementerio de dragones y la nave nodriza de Alien, los enemigos parecen face huggers y el final boss ES literalmente un alien, LOL.

2. "64th Street: a Detective Story": un beat-em-up de los de "yo contra el barrio", muy simplón, con bosses estresantes (tienden a tener movimientos que te alcanzan "porque sí" y, una vez te han enganchado, solo puedes ver cómo te sacuden como a una estera hasta que pierdas una vida 🤬) y, para rematar los malos puntos, música muy machacona en algunos niveles... PERO, el juego lo vale, simplemente por su rollo años 20 y el carisma de sus personajes: Rick (un detective chulesco, con bigotillo a lo Freddie Mercury y tirantes) y su ayudante Allen (el típico chulo que se ha hecho a sí mismo en las calles, gorra de Oliver Twist incluida). Rick se abre paso a puñetazos muy poco ortodoxos y su golpe maestro es un derechazo lento pero potente. Allen es más ágil y con un estilo más del rollo de artes marciales. Mola que se puede agarrar y lanzar a los enemigos en cualquier dirección y, al hacerlo contra las paredes del escenario de turno, casi todas se pueden romper. Pero no esperéis mucho más.

Debería hacerme una lista de juegos de esta consola que me he pasado y cuáles tengo en progreso pero pendientes.
