I have shown here a few times already beautiful vortices in cloud fields downwind from islands. These vortices are a reflection of two-dimensional turbulence in the atmosphere which behaves as a fluid. Occasionally one can see such vortices also in water, when made visible by ice, for instance. In the mid-1950s, my mother, a newly graduated nurse went to Moose Factory on in Ontario to work in the hospital there. She bought this little deer skin pouch with exquisite beading then and many years later gave it to me. I’ve treasured it ever since. Gifting it to me was like passing the torch since I became a as well.
