#JamesLick had quite a life: Born in PA, learned piano making in MD, moved to NYC, then to Argentina, Chile, and Peru, then finally to the 'small village' of San Francisco in 1848.

He was not in the military, yet at one point he was captured and held by the Portuguese as a prisoner of war.

He convinced his friend from Peru, Domingo Ghirardelli, to move to San Francisco. Yes, THAT #Ghirardelli.
