James Miller's 1930 Modern Classical building on West George Street in Central Glasgow.

This rather wonderful building is constructed from Portland Stone, and was originally built for the Commercial Bank of Scotland.

Clydebank Town Hall. Designed in a Renaissance style by James Miller and built in 1902. This is a beautiful building which luckily only suffered minor damage in the Clydebank Blitz in March 1941.

The former Cranston's DeLuxe cinema and tea room on Renfield Street in Glasgow.

Built for the business woman Catherine Cranston in the 1910s in a Beaux Arts style from a design bu James Miller and Richard M. Gunn. The facade isn't marble (as it might at first seem) but rather tiles made from faience Carrara-ware.

This building stands almost directly opposite another of Miller's creations (a Glasgow Style tenement built in 1898 which I posted a photo of yesterday), giving an indication the breadth of his capabilities.

James Miller's rather fabulous 1898 Glasgow-Style tenement on Bridge Street in the Laurieston area of Glasgow. Most Glasgow-Style buildings are built with red sandstone, while this one is made from blonde sandstone, presumably to blend in with the older tenements around it.

The capola at the top of one of the towers on the main building of Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Designed by James Miller and built in the early 1900s.

James Miller is amongst the greatest of Glasgow's architects, but remains poory known in comparison to Alexander 'Greek' Thomson and Charles Rennie MacKintosh.

The rear elevation of Caledonian Mansions on Great Western Road. Built in 1897 for the Caledonian Railway Company who operated the railway line it was constructed next to.

You can still see the remains of this railway line in bottom left of this photo, including the now-sealed entrance to the tunnel leading off to the old Botanic Gardens Station.
