James Watt seated beside the steam condenser he invented and which helped revolutionise the use of steam power for industrial processes. This is on the former Athenaeum on Nelson Mandela Place in Glasgow and was created by the legendary sculptor John Mossman in 1886.

Beside the Nelson Monument in Glasgow Green (you can't miss it its the 144 foot tall pointy thing!) is, to me, a much more interesting one. It's a large, rather out-of-place looking boulder.

The inscription on it details how James Watt had his revolutionary idea for improving how steam engines work in this Glasgow park in 1765. It was an idea that is credited with kick-starting the industrial revolution.

The Old Glasgow High School building, Elmbank Street, Glasgow.

While the building itself dates from 1846, the sculptures date from 1880. They are by John Mossman and are of, from left to right, Homer, Cicero, Galileo and James Watt.

For no real reason, here's the interior of the Eastney Beam Engine House for #FotoMontag. This building houses two #JamesWatt steam beam engines and was built in 1887 to help address sewage issues in #Portsmouth. We could probably do with it being put to use again, to be fair.
