The hard life of a derivative distro. During the development cycle of #bookwom python3-xarray suffered of a wrong exposure of its version (the quite old 0.16 instead of the true one).
So, bullseye and bookworm are ok, but Ubuntu 22.04 LTS #jammy is broken for common use, due to mismatched versioning of a useful numerical package like xarray for Python, whenever checked as a dependency. Just happened here... 😞
Never trust a universe of packages based on unstable stuff. Universe or aur?

Let us upgrade #Firefox on #Ubuntu #Jammy:
The system presents to me a list of system #updates that includes Firefox.
But, it cannot be installed using 'snap'. I get a messsage such as:

cannot perform operation: mount --bind /snap/core20/current/etc/nsswitch.conf

So, I'm going to install #updates from a #repository.
To do so, I follow tge instructions in the following link with some changes:

The changes are:
1. I do not run 'snap remove'.
2. I run 'apt reinstall firefox'.

Now, Firefox will be updated from a repository.

Has a wonderful meal at #LasVegasBrewingCompany. Started with the Penny O'Reilly's Red Ale, ended the evening with their Chantilly Cream Ale mixed with the Graham Cracked Porter. Upgrading to #jammy borked my #nvidia drivers, so I'm saying goodbye to #Ubuntu once again and going back to vanilla #Debian. I would have taken the #archlinux plunge, but I need to have a configured system that is up and running by the end of the night after a few beers. I can't jump into Arch slightly intoxicated.

Another visitor from across the pond - two days running! This time a Laughing Gull turned up in South Devon. After a four hour wait and just as I was leaving, it was sighted on the next beach along. First time I've seen this species in the UK. Phew!

Wow, that was the most hitchless and hassle-free server upgrade ever, from #focal to #jammy. Worried that not enough sh!t happened.

I admit it is a mixed bag because even though I like a #Jammy doughnut, I'm not keen on seeing a #Jellyfish at the beach.

If you, like me, started to wonder about increasingly & repeatingly seeing weird "The following packages have been kept back" in #Ubuntu 22.04 during #apt #package #upgrade : The answer is literally: "Ignore them".

@lamecarlate Je ne suis pas encore passé à la nouvelle version, ni sur desktop ni sur portable. J'ai toutefois #Jammy sur un barebone neuf. La plupart des problèmes résolus, mais le principal reste la nécessité d'y consacrer du temps...
J'ai eu des mauvaises expériences de mise à niveau au début (2010-2012), du coup j'ai pris l'habitude de faire des install neuves en gardant une partie des dossiers cachés du home. Mais à lire d'autres ces temps-ci, l'upagrade a l'air plus fiable maintenant.

Had no idea what somerville-bulbasaur was about. Turns out it is about the #DELL hardware support. :-/ oem-somerville-meta and factory-meta can be found in the dell repos but oem-somerville-bulbasaur-meta can't #ubuntu #jammy #xps13

Yesterday I forced my #ubuntu LTS 20.04 to update to 22.04 (#jammy) on my dell #xps13 9310 by executing `do-release-upgrade -d`.

The update was done within an hour and it was successful. But after the update apt was missing a component called `somerville-bulbasaur`.

Any known issues when upgrading #ubuntu #impish to #jammy on a #lvm encrypted environment that is unlocked via #dropbear on boot?

Just upgrading my laptop and shack machine #Pi400 from #ubuntu #Impish to #jammy. I'll then lock the Pi400 to the LTS.

I updated my installation of Ubuntu 20.04 to 22.04 recently. I didn't use the builtin upgrade tool but used a different and in my view simpler method. How did the upgrade process go?
