@earthworm Yes.
We should remember that the southern and central "Syrian Revolution" when it started said their inspirations were mainly two, the then ongoing #jan25 revolution in Egypt and the people that had also, inspired by #jan25 already risen in the northeast of Syria, in the areas the world came to know as Rojava.
They many times declared mutual support and solidarity, until the self-appointed "political leadership" of the revolution went to hold a founding meeting of their interim government in Ankara and came back with orders from the government of Turkey that the revolution that had been egalitarian, anti-racist, feminist, etc must now stop that and instead fight the Kurds, Syriacs, etc and must reject feminism, to get support like arms from the government of Turkey.
Some rejected that betrayal of the revolution and mostly in those cases later ended up in the "Syrian Democratic Forces" (SDF) alliance alongside YPG, YPJ, etc.
Those that stayed in the usurped revolution became overtaken by al-Qaeda and later ISIL, with the aid of Turkey and turned into an auxiliary military force for the State of Turkey when it invaded and started imposing Turkish signs, coinage, education, flags, etc.
It has nothing buy a nominal connection to the original revolution, in my opinion.

Personally I don't care for football, buuuut... I am/have been a fan of some fan clubs,
in particular "Ultras White Knights" of "Zamalek SC" (Egypt) for taking some of the worst of the frontline during the (initial liberatory, feminist, socialist, etc) #jan25 revolution in Egypt,
as well as the "ÇⒶRŞI" of "Beşiktaş GC" (Turkey) for e.g. very much helping keep the #OccupyGezi uprisings antiauthoritarian, multicultural, etc (including their fabulous night with their expropriated excavator "POMA", as a chaser of police's water wannon "TOMA" trucks).
I believe those a part of the "hooligans"-culture, although I'm not an expert. ;-)
And of course St. Pauli, Celtic, Bajen and similar are nice, in general, too… I've been told. ;-)

As a young activist during the 2011 revolution, Ahmed Douma walked ahead of his fellow protesters to remove tear gas cannisters from their path.
Today, he's languishing behind bars, having spent the last 9 years in prison because he fought for a better Egypt. #Jan25 #FreeDouma

Every January 25, I think back to #Jan25 2011 when Egyptians protested police violence by the millions and changed the world in the process. The wave of hope carried me to Cairo where I worked with activists to connect them with technologists from my base at Stanford U. The revolution was crushed two years later, but I carry hope with me that Egyptians will one day secure basic human rights
#OTD in 1835, Muslim (Malê) slaves in the Bahia region of Brazil led an uprising, many wearing necklaces featuring Jean-Jacques Dessalines, who had led the Haitian Revolution years earlier. While their efforts were met with repression, slavery was abolished 16 years later, partially as a result of this uprising.
