Trump attorney Sidney Powell said she had no cybersecurity or election law experience but believed there would be widespread fraud in 2020. Why? After the Steele dossier, “there was nothing I would put past anyone” to oust Trump, she told the select committee in her deposition. And the pandemic response “gave cover” for using “more mail-in ballots than were needed.” By Azi Paybarah @washingtonpost washingtonpost.com/politics/20

"Hey, Siri, show me 'slipshod'!" : Sidney Powell told the subcommittee she became concerned the election was fraudulent when several states stopped counting ballots “just prior to the President being able to hit the 270 votes needed for the electoral college win.” They were “Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin, definitely Georgia, maybe Nevada,” she said. Where did she get that info? “I think I was watching Fox News.”

Ivanka Trump’s chief of staff said Ivanka Trump didn’t want to speak at the Ellipse rally because she didn’t want to associate with “Stop the Steal” messaging.

Julie Radford also said President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence had a tense conversation before the rally that “upset” Ivanka. The younger Trump didn’t get into details but was visibly bothered. @washingtonpost

Donald Trump told then-White House counsel Pat Cipollone and his deputy, Pat Philbin, that they were complicit in a “coup” for not backing his false claims of systematic voter fraud, Cipollone told the House committee.

The president leveled that accusation in a meeting in which Cipollone and Philbin expressed their opposition to naming Jeffrey Clark, an environmental lawyer at the Justice Department, as the acting attorney general.

After the 2020 election, then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) asked Attorney General William P. Barr, “How far is the President going to take this?’

“I think he was getting worried about a constitutional crisis, and he wanted to know my views on these fraud claims,” Barr told investigators. “And I told him I think we’re looking into them.” @washingtonpost By Patrick Marley washingtonpost.com/politics/20

“My understanding of our Nevada strategy is to cause as much chaos as possible.” That’s how Trump adviser Jason Miller described plans to challenge the election outcome there in an email chain on Nov. 8, 2020, with other Trump officials, including campaign manager Bill Stepien and deputy campaign manager Justin Clark. Stepien replied that that strategy was fine, but specified, “no more Four Seasoning.” washingtonpost.com/politics/20

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany kept notes on her phone, including a quote she attributed to Trump about the Proud Boys: “they have to stand down.” Committee members noted the quote is inaccurate: Trump said at one of the 2020 presidential debates that they should “stand back and stand by.” McEnany acknowledged she has no documentation about where her version of the quote is from. washingtonpost.com/politics/20
