Not that you can see the dangmyeon under all the veg, but it is there! Friday night is Asian night with #Korean #japchae (made with broccoli instead of Shiitake because Richard doesn’t do mushrooms). Japchae is made with sweet potato vermicelli (dangmyeon glass noodles) available from any good Asian shop and for me, vegetables, Quorn pieces & soy/mirin based sauce. #Birthdays so we had #japchae and J H cupcakes for #jhope #hobi and I've iced a flower cake for my Mum for tomorrow. She probably doesn't need to know she has the leftover colours from the #BTS birthdays!! There wasn't really enough to ice the sides... Meanwhile we are thinking about a camping party for #suga #yoongi !!

It's easy for me to remember when it's Hobi's birthday, as it's my Mum's birthday on 19th February! Currently doing lots of baking, decorating to follow. I feel like this holiday was such a good call, I had almost forgotten I was going to celebrate it this year. No wonder I was thinking about toast and olive oil yesterday.

Soup is MAMA brand's Flat Noodles Clear Soup with some hoisin sauce.

I guess for dinner later we actually have #Japchae ingredients on hand other than dangmyun which I can't find here so we have to sub bean threads which are not quite the proper texture.

So dinner tonight is going to be... huh.

If I had my choice it'd be #Japchae since it's an appropriate dish for celebration.

Where I grew up at one point, we had a fair number of Korean neighbors and got invited over for dinner before one of our neighbors moved away (because of them graduating from MSU).

That was the meal, though they added kamaboko and that was really great. IMO it's cool that fishcakes are made from whitefish because whitefish is a traditional food for #Anishinaabe peoples.

Ordered from Seoul Kitchen today, a "cloud kitchen" (no physical restaurant, only delivery) that's becoming more popular.

The Beef #Bibimbap and Chicken #Japchae were both very tasty, Still can't find #Sundubu-jjigae (my favourite #Korean dish) in Tampere though.
