The locket was ugly. Unlucky. Cursed. She had known that at the age of six when her great aunt had bequeathed it to her. However, despite her best efforts, she had never managed to dispose of it.

Today though, while on a trip to the seaside, the answer seemed obvious. She threw it off the long pier and watched it sink without trace.
