Recently switched to #Firefox. #NVDA plays way nicer with it than #JAWS does. But #JAWS works better with #Microsoft #Office. Especially in the calendar part of it. Is the calendar on #Thunderbird at all usable? I'd love to have mail and calendar in one application.

My first assistive technology foible with #Firefox is that text selection with #JAWS is fiddly at best, a nightmare at worst. Rarely does JAWS highlight the correct text--and sometimes, it doesn't highlight anything at all. Other times, it will highlight the beginning few characters of a paragraph and then just drop the rest. #NVDA, of course, doesn't exhibit this behavior. I'll continue troubleshooting but a bug report to Vispero is probably in order.

As I review the new features of the #FreedomScientific #JAWS 2024 release, I can’t help but think about what I really want on my wish list. While the Face and View and Split Braille features are welcome additions, I believe that expanding on the Picture Smart feature would be even more impactful. It would be great if Picture Smart could integrate with OpenAI or even Microsoft Bing AI to become more robust and keep up with current technology, rather than playing catch up in a few years.

Another idea is to have a team dedicated to making more applications accessible, rather than just focusing on a few like Microsoft Windows. Perhaps they could identify the top 50 applications used by the visually impaired community and work on ensuring those scripts are accessible. Offering a wider list of accessible software would be another great feature.

I’ll admit, I’m not sure what it takes to implement these features and if they are plausible, but I believe they would be more significant than this year’s Face and View feature. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice, but it seems small and not heavily used on a daily basis. Just my thoughts. 3#Accessibility #A11y

I need to read #German #Braille, and have configured #JAWS with two braille profiles: English and German. However, JAWS does not render the capital letter indicator (dots 4-6) when in the German profile, even though the “Suppress Capital Signs” checkbox within the “Profile details” dialog for the German profile is not checked. @nycki96 Good morning,
I managed to reimage my ElBraille all by myself this passed Sunday & I had to reinstall #jaws last night on this Lenovo machine because it wasn't reading things it should have.
My #ElBraille didn't reinstall #jaws along with windows this time though. I had to install jaws manually myself, but once I did, all is well.
My reason for needing to reimage, was that I tried to upgrade from #Windows11 Home to pro but it didn't activate properly.

JAWS has sort of a web inspector:

Press Shift + JAWS Key + F1

This will announce the accessibility info it gets from the DOM. This window is more fickle and likes to close on a whim.
