I am a jay Ward stan. And the Smithsonian article I just boosted is a solid assessment of Rocky and Bullwinkle. They made up for the crude (by necessity: this was early television) animation with razor-sharp wit, fast dialogue, and excellent VO talent. When Shockwave Flash came out in the 90s, my illustrator friend and I actually drafted some scripts for a new Jay Ward style show for the Internet. But, alas, we never got it off the ground. And now Flash is obsolete!
