In 2021, the median renter household making less than $30,000 a year had just $380 left over each month after paying rent. This is not only 22 percent less than what they had at the beginning of the pandemic but it’s the lowest amount in more than 20 years.

This Friday, 12:15 pm: Alex Hermann will present our paper on the geography of #renter financial distress during the pandemic. We found that the financial fallout was heavily concentrated in high-poverty neighborhoods and communities of color, but rental assistance was generally reaching the neighborhoods with the greatest need. #housing #jchs
