Happy Birthday to Jeannette Pickering Rankin, born #OnThisDay in Montana in 1880. Rankin was the first woman to hold federal office in the United States. A devoted pacifist, Rankin was the only member of Congress to vote against US entry into both World War I and World War II.

#Missoulian: #JeannetteRankin Foundation offers new scholarship for #Native students in #Montana

The program will award up to 60 #EducationGrants to women 25 and older attending #TribalColleges in Montana.

The individual $2,500 grants are unrestricted and will be awarded directly to students, allowing them to use the funding in whatever way is most needed to reach graduation.
