Dear authors of #jellyfin - you DON'T need to store two hundred thousand cache and metadata files in the filesystem. I'm sorry but you just don't. Install a database and get it all in there. On a 16-core machine with all data stored on SSD, you still make us wait almost five straight minutes while the app uninstalls and all the shrapnel files are deleted? Come the hell on. A folder for every alphabetic character and name in every show??

Are you listening a lot of #audiobooks or #podcasts? Why not #selfhost your own library? I recently tried https://www.audiobookshelf.org/ on my Raspberry Pi and it's great! Easy to set up and useful features for those media types.

I won't drop my #jellyfin for that, but maybe this is the right thing for you!

Cable TV and internet went out so it gave me a reason to mount the outdoor TV antenna I had and hook it up to #tvheadend service I had sitting on my server. Also I have #jellyfin and a box set of #firefly I picked up at the library for entertainment.

It's recently started not giving me access to the remote control most of the time when I play media. Sometimes it's better if I start playing it on my phone, and THEN cast

it's probably more a chromecast issue than jellyfin; when I stil used Netflix it was even LESS stable

Which #MediaServer software people use nowadays? Would love to hear in replies also what led to the choice.

Dos anyone know of an android app for music and or audiobooks for #jellyfin , beside #finamp ?

I installed an Apple TV and Infuse today and it's just _so_ much more usable than the official #Jellyfin app on Roku. Things actually play, for starters.

Surprisingly, to me at least, is that accessing files over NFS is snappier than through Jellyfin. I guess I assumed it would be slower or have to transfer a bunch ahead of time.

Does anyone else like to think of their media server as a private lil video store that they maintain for their friends & family? #Plex #Jellyfin

@Tana i switched to using #jellyfin and #usenet to grab all of my media and just support physical releases when i can. if you're not paying for owning it on these drm-laden sites it's not worth buying it digitally at all. usenet gives me better quality releases, too.

Did a little searching to see how #Jellyfin handles fetching metadata from #TvMaze for special episodes, and apparently it doesn't currently. 😞

Does look like there was some initial work done on fixing this, tho.
