Another new jewel that came in on Monday. I've had Macodes petola in the house before, but this one is at a more mature, stable age. Many jewel orchids seem to be particularly fragile until they reach the age where they're pushing up a second growth.

A new jewel orchid at my house! This Anoectochilus albo-lineatus has deep green velvet leaves with glittering copper veins and a very appealing ripple to the leaf edges. The flower is supposed to be unusually large for a jewel orchid, and is frilly! Has a second growth starting, which is usually a good sign of health.

I had originally intended to plant this along with the others in a terrarium, but the empty cloche on top of my bookshelf has been calling to me for a while, so I made this temporary installation for it.
