The plan covers "35 cemeteries, 33,600 tombstones and over 19,000 inscriptions"

Like so many others alive today, the memory of this family's connection to the #Holocaust had been lost, until they charted out their #Genealogy. This video gives a mind-jarring demonstration of how many branches of so many #FamilyTrees were never allowed to bloom & grow, and a vivid reminder of why we must #NeverForget .

The #AntiSemitism which fueled the gas chambers did not suddenly begin in the 1930s. It had been kindling a flame of hate long before, and was merely practicing for #Auschwitz & #Buchenwald, when the brutality of the #Pogroms began in the 1800s.

#Genealogy is important because it does not merely give us names; it connects us to #history and imbues & instills within us the importance of fighting the hatred of the past, whenever it raises its ugly head in our present.

In the 1993 film Groundhog Day, Ned Ryerson is portrayed by my 4th cousin 2x removed Stephen Tobolowsky.

Stephen’s great-great-grandfather Ben Tobolowsky is the brother of my great(4x)grandfather Leib Tobolowsky.

A few months ago a distant cousin found me on Ancestry. He's Ukrainian raised in Kviv in the Orthodox Church. His Grandmother has denied for yrs their Jewish roots.
I show up as a DNA match
She finally admits it .
He convinces her to have her DNA done and he contacts me and says Ancestry finds them not Jewish .
He's sad
Anyway this AM I found many name changes , his Jewish roots
AND his Grandmother is directly related to Tchaikovsky

Many of my Jewish Ancestors found that out when the "Nazi's came a calling" . Some of those neighbors became vicious and at least one of my relatives who lived to tell the tale talks about that in her Shoah Testimony
