A man celebrated his 80th birthday this past Shabbat at my synagogue. Someone joked that when he was called up to the Torah, he lifted the Torah and opened it seven columns wide, and said to the gabbai, “What do you think of that? Pretty impressive for an 80 year old man!” The gabbai replied, “That’s definitely unusual for shlishi.”
