I agree that there is a lot of shared history.

However, I assumed that you meant that you were both #Black and #Jewish. My mistake!

Anyway, there are many communities of #JewsOfColor. So often, those of us in the #NorthAmerican #Ashkenazi communities tacitly (and mistakenly) assume that "Jewish" means "North American Ashkenazi." Not so.

I am not a representative of #Babka but I would like to see Jews of Color and allies feel welcome and participate in the space. I’m going to have to read this piece a couple more times, but in the meantime can anyone point me to recent explorations of this, or ideally (though perhaps difficult) a list of ‘best practices’?

So this flyer is going around the haredi community. Essentially it's saying "we keep non-Jewish secular influences out of our house" - we don't allow newspapers or non-Jewish foods.

I don't think their definition of "Jewish food" includes anything that didn't originate with a Yiddish-speaking chef.
