Healer (2014, Viki)

Again, I thought it would be a nice light drama to help with the angst of the other 2 dramas I’m watching. It ended up being a binge. Excellent story, great action, wonderful romance, fabulous acting.

Ji Chang-wook was made for action shows. Park Min-young was also great. Although I can see how she’s grown as an actress over the last 9 years, she was still very, very good in this.

The stories of reporters from 2 generations is captivating - centering on power & the corruption it brings.

I just watched Healer over the holiday weekend here and I’ll post about that later, but I had to mention this fabulous actress.

Kim Mi-kyung has played Park Min-young's mother in at least 2 shows I know of (Forecasting Love & Weather, Her Private Life). Kim has also played moms in many other dramas I’ve watched and she does it very well.

In Healer, however she doesn’t play Park’s mother. She plays a computer hacker and provides such comic relief while nagging, cursing, yelling, & caring. She’s great at it. She made me LOL several times.

The K2 (2016)

Ji Chang-wook makes an excellent spy/agent. K2 was obviously written to show off this talent. The story is sloppy and patched together with political intrigue that comes out of nowhere and people switching sides faster than you can keep track.

That said, I really enjoyed it and may even rewatch, but would only recommend it to people who like Ji Chang-wook beating up dozens of other agents & police every episode. The battle choreography is beyond belief (seriously - only a real superhero could do that). I'm not sure if it was meant to be satirical, but if you just take it at face-value as an action series, it's a fun watch.

The 2 female leads, Im Yoon-ah & Song Yoon-ah were also excellent with the characters they were given. I even ended up feeling sorry for the villain.

I really, really liked Ji Chang-wook in “Lovestruck in the City”. The drama itself had an unusual format, but his performance was great - as was Kim Ji-won’s.

I started the magic one too, but it’s on hold, but I do plan to finish it.

Kdrama: Suspicious Partner

I watched this hoping for a light rom-com, but the most compelling part of the show was the murder mystery. There were some romcom moments, and there was a lot of potential romcom material there, but it all seemed to sputter out at the end. The mystery still made it a good watch, but I doubt this will be a rewatch for me.

I completely forgot “Fight for My Way” - I thought there was great chemistry with Kim Ji-Won - although you have to wait for it.

But then again, I thought she had great chemistry with Ji Chang-wook in “Lovestruck in the City”. I love her and intend to watch more. So maybe she’s good with every lead.
