It also has one of the best conflict-of-interest statements I've seen: "I made a bet ($5.00) with Ira Hyman in 2019 that the journal impact factor would no longer be used within five years, and thus I have financial motivation to write negatively about impact factors."

#JIF is (allegedly) peanut butter. I keep a couple of these "40s" on hand at all times. A Tbsp mostly when I have low blood sugar. Instant remedy until I can prep something else.

- A good and useful indicator of journal and paper quality
- An imperfect, sometimes wrong, sometimes noisy, but still useful metric for some applications
- A metric that is useless, but not purposely so, just because it is noisy or poorly constructed. Other, similar metrics could be useful.
- A hoax and a scam, a deliberately manipulated metric that props up entrenched power

I found it on Amazon after the local places around here stopped carrying it. Combined with #jif smooth peanut butter, it makes a lovely lunch option. The fig preserve has a surprising depth of flavor, as well. It also really helps that I've been hopscotching along with #cannabis #edibles and what was amazing enough to share before, is just more-so now. :D
