A True Newscasting Legend Retires!

Growing up in the Philadelphia area, you'd be had pressed not to know who this guy is. Jim Gardner anchored the 6 and 11pm news on 6 ABC News for so many years. 45 years total at the station.

So many of us in the 80's and 90's before cable would watch the news anchored by non-other than Jim. He was steadfast in his delivery and a compassionate anchor.

Philly area folks will know this name by heart: Jim Gardner. I remember watching him as a 7 or 8 year old way back when. Just signed off from Action News for the final time after over 40 years on the air. And he gave one last monologue everyone should see.

He's a Philly - no, national - treasure.
