Today’s listening is ‘Simple Songs’, the 2015 album by Jim O’Rourke.
Recorded in Tokyo with a group of Japanese musicians, this album is a little unusual both musically and lyrically, having some odd rhythms and song structures.
In places it’s quite jazzy, in others almost ‘prog rock’ with quite muted vocals throughout.
Overall I find it to be an enjoyable and interesting listen.
Worth checking out if you are unfamiliar with Mr O’Rourke’s stuff.
