I finished book 60 which was Peter Caddick-Adams (@militaryhistori), "Snow & Steel: The Battle of the Bulge, 1944-45". This is a most excellent book on the Battle of the Bulge. This book is greatly detailed with an excellent narrative which makes it very readable.
It was a most excellent book and I recommend it highly.

I finished book 59 which was "Unidentified Funny Objects 5". This is the 5th collection of funny Sci-Fi & Fantasy short stories. I sponsored the kickstarter and opted to get all 9 books. I'm hoping they put out a book 10 this year. All of the stories are quite good.

I finished book 58 which was Ian Fleming's, "For Your Eyes Only". This was one of the original James Bond books. It has nothing to do with the event of the movie of the same name. It contains 5 novella sized James Bond stories.

We couldn't find anything better to do this labor day so it is a reading afternoon on my couch as it is too blasted hot outside. 2 chapters (one rather long) and one brief nap later, it is going well. As a change from the norm, today's Spotify choice is Sabaton, and whatever Spotify recommends after an album finishes.
I read book 57 which was Rob Grant's, "Red Dwarf: Backwards". Rob Grant is half of the writing duo Grant Naylor. His partner Doug Naylor wrote the last book I read which was "Red Dwarf: Last human". This book actually takes place before Last Human. It, like the other 3 Red Dwarf books, was a good book, but that is to be expected from the guys who created it.

I finished book 56 which was Doug Naylor's, "Red Dwarf: Last Human". Doug Naylor is one half of the writing duo Grant Naylor who wrote a few other Red Dwarf books. Doug went solo for this one. This is the 3rd Red Dwarf book I've read, all as great as the TV show.

I finished book 55 which was Grant Naylor's, "Red Dwarf: Better Than Life". This is another book in the Red Dwarf series that the BBC series Red Dwarf was based off. Like the other books in the series, this one was very good.

I finished book 54 which was Grant Naylor's "Red Dwarf: Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers". Grant Naylor is the pseudonym of the writing team Rob Grant and Doug Naylor. You all may be familiar with the British Sci-Fi show Red Dwarf and this is the book that started it all.
The events in the book are covered in several episodes in the first couple series of the show. This was as good of a book as the series was.

I finished book 53 which was Lee Hollis's, "Murder at the Bake Sale". This is the 2nd murder mystery book in the "A Mays and Sandra Mystery" series. I buy these books for Kat and I like to call them a not at all guilty pleasure and a quick read.

I finished book 52 which was Ben Macintyre's "Prisoners of the Castle".
If I can be said to have a favorite subject of World War II, a subject that has fascinated me ever since I read Pat Reid's "Escape from Colditz" in high school, that subject would be Colditz Castle and it's time as the Oflag IV-C POW camp for Germany's difficult and prominent POWs.
This was a great book and a fine addition to my 5 other Colditz books (pictured here).

I finished book 51 which was Lee Hollis's "Murder at the PTA. I believe they call this a cozy mystery, or a fluff mystery or some similar adjective. It's one of those not at all guilty pleasure type books I buy Kat and I too enjoy them as a quick read.

I finished book 50 which was Ernst Jünger's, "Storm of Steel", originally published as In Stahlgewittern (In Storms of Steel). This is a World War I memoir of a German infantry officer who fought throughout the entire war on the Western Front.
This book is a factual account of the war with no political or anti/pro war stance. This book talks about WWI as he saw it talking about the battles fought and the men he led, many who did not survive.

I finished book 49 which was Terry Pratchett's "The Dark Side of the Sun". This was one of Terry Pratchett's non-Discworld books. It was fine, but hard for me to get into.

I finished book 48 which was "Unidentified Funny Objects 4" edited by Alex Shvartsman. This is the 4th volume in the funny Sci-Fi & Fantasy short story collections. There are currently 9 annual volumes which I bought last year through a kickstarter deal. All very good so far.
These stories are indeed funny. For volume 4, the stories had a common theme of some sort of dark humor, or dark twist.

I finished book 47 which was Richard Blade's, "Ghosts of the Congo". This is a military themed adventure thriller, and I fully expect it to be turned into a blockbuster movie. You listening Hollywood? Make it happen and give the author a cameo role.
This was a great military themed action thriller that I recommend to anyone that likes those types of books.

I finished book 46 which was "Star Wars Legends: The Rebellion: Volume 5". This is the 5th omnibus collection of Star Wars comics that take place between Star Wars Episodes IV and VI. This also included the 2 volume comic adaption of "The Empire Strikes Back".
I've said it before, I like all of the Star Wars comics and this book was no exception.

I finished book 45 which was Cassandra Alexander's, "Year of the Nurse: A 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic Memoir". Cassandra Alexander, in addition to being an author who also writes as Cassie Alexander (I guess Cassie for the paranormal romance and Cassandra for the serious stuff) is also an ICU nurse who experienced some of the worst the COVID-19 pandemic had to offer. This is her story, but in many ways it is the story of many many other nurses. Great book!

I finished book 44 which was Grant Naylor's "Red Dwarf: Primordial Soup: The Least Worst Scripts". Grant Naylor is the pen name of Rob Grant and Doug Naylor.
This is book collecting 6 scripts from the British Sci-Fi TV show, "Red Dwarf". It's alleged to be the least worst scripts and indeed these are some good scripts from the show. I remember most of the episodes and they were indeed quite good.

Today, I added a couple more books to my very small (*) WWI collection. Storm of Steel is another memoir from a German WWI veteran. It's always good to get a different perspective when reading about a war. The other book is one of the de facto books on WWI so I figured it's long past time to read this one.
(*) Compared to my epic sized WWII collection.
