So I'm going to ask again.

How can I set up a loopback test for over

ie no cable. For testing purposes I want a way to take midi out on a usb cable and plug it in to midi in on a usb cable without latency in the loopback connection (bcause I'm tetsing the I/O of the host computer) and I don't see how it can be done.

I don't trust midi over usb. DIN5 midi is kinda crap, but its known crap with well understood limitations.

I'm not tech enough to know if it's interrupts versus polling or abstraction layers but I do know - MODERN COMPUTER MIDI IS RUBBISH.

two years ago I released this visual album of damaged midi electronics and audio reactive visuals via max/jitter. pretty lofi and rudimentary visuals but it works. each track has a slightly different jitter setup.

Playing with scale. I changed an existing animation into a triangular pixel mesh and used an oscillator to zoom in and out to create depth.

ZITHER DITHER

A gen art mesh distorted and slightly pixelated. Created and animated in Cavalry then ping-pong looped in the awesome Giphy Capture.

Both these apps are free!

Giphy Capture is the most useful app in my toolbox, producing gif or mp4 loops from any moving screen-grab. So much easier to use than Quicktime.
