What the hell is wrong with #jlcpcb
I sent U2 as rotation 90.0 degrees.
This has always been with antenna on the left. Another order on the same day with the same part at 90.0 degrees shows antenna left.
Yet this order they consider 90.0 degrees to be facing up, and "corrected" it to be facing down.
Arrrg!
(Yes I had silk screen to show the orientation, and they edited it out FFS). #PCB
Easyeda2KiCad: Never Draw a Footprint Again - What if I told you that you might never need to draw a new footprint again? Such i... - https://hackaday.com/2023/08/08/easyeda2kicad-never-draw-a-footprint-again/ #footprintcreation #pcbhacks #easyeda #jlcpcb #parts #kicad #lcsc

So, it turns out, if you want to buy something from #lcsc. Instead of paying $7.70 for shipping, you can go to #jlcpcb, get some small pcb's produced for $2, then select "global standard direct line", for $1.47, and including taxes and shipping, you will have paid $4.20 for your pcbs.
If you then order parts from lcsc, you get free shipping because of your jlcpcb order. This way you save $3.50 in shipping, and you get free pcbs.

I ordered the same #PCB patch #antenna 4 different ways from #JLCPCB to see how well their process tracks their published impedance parameters:
- FR-4 standard, without soldermask
- FR-4 TG155/high-temp, without soldermask
- standard with blue soldermask, green soldermask over the antenna element

#JLCPCB are doubling down on the whole multiple designs thing even when just silkscreen.
This is clearly bullshit. When making a board the v-cuts are last, but without them they will do as “one design”.
Same with assembly, they can assemble the whole board as one job if I remove a slot or cut.
I really hope I am creating “meetings” in #JLCPCB over my insistence that their rules do not define text in “solder resist/mask” as additional designs.
I like causing “meetings”.
As I understand it, getting my degree caused “meetings” :-)
Grr…
Tedious rules are bad enough, but rules inconsistently applied are a pain, #JLCPCB.
There arbitrary rule on “multiple designs” which (bizarrely) covers silkscreen not just actual circuits, meant a board came back as “3 designs”. It had 5 distinct PCB parts all with silkscreen, one with components and traces.
Latest has 5 parts, two with silkscreen (one with parts). But the others have text in the solder resist. Their rules don’t mention solder resist.
Came back as “5 designs”!!!!
Finally! I have a straight answer for #JLCPCB on v-cuts.
They had said a separate gerber file is the way to do it, but now say they can be missed and so to include in the same file as the edge cuts.
I assume the can work out they are v-cuts.
The problem is that #kicad will grow a wobbler I am sure. I may have to suggest they allow (and ignore, or treats as a slot) such lines, perhaps set to width 0 or something. Another one for the feature list I guess.
For my next trick, trying to make up the panel for a #JLCPCB #PCB order myself. Only snag is V-cuts as I can't work out what file they expect for them, so I'll add notes.
But the end result is I should need a lot less labelling on these when sending to Amazon. Just need to find reasonably clear anti-static bags now.
I have to say slightly surprised at #JLCPCB this time.
12% failure rate.
1 LED (in power supply) reversed
4 RGB LEDs missing
1 RGB LED broken
6 RGB LEDs bad soldered
Shocked.
I managed to rework all to be working, with 5 having no LED in the end, but that is pretty bad show. Thankful RGB LEDs are cosmetic in this design.
I'll see what they have to say.
Good job I added LED testing to my ATE stuff.
