@lgeurts @mattj @snikket_im I personally use Chatty and Gajim on my Librem 5 and Pinephone. Gajim and Movim on my computers. And On an old android I have Cheogram. I have a hosted snikket instance from #jmpchat #jmp.chat

If you're looking for a Google Voice alternative that works across browsers and apps, give JMP a try. You interact with the service through a bot, so the actual service is accessible, it just depends on the #XMPP client you use. I personally recommend Miranda NG on Windows, but it is a great way to have multiple VOIP phone numbers and not give out your real number.

One thing to note. If you want to close your account, you need to contact support, so I wouldn't try this unless you are really sure you wanna keep it or at least use it for a long time. While customer service will delete you with no fuss, still, I wish there was a self delete option.
