This is a Joan Miro ('Cabeca', I think), currently on show at Serralves, Porto.

It returns me to the subject of M John Harrison, maps, self, and 'The Sunken Land Begins To Rise Again'.

A fragment of map - rising or falling? The rest of it subsumed under a tar-like coating, an almost desperate blotting out.

This, opposite one of his 'burnt' canvases, was a real thrill.

Leafing through Brassai's book of photographs of artists, just came across this great 1955 photo of Joan Miro at the Barcelona Maritime Museum.

The wooden pully blocks arranged on the wall look like they could be a Miro painting.... great photo

I have lived in NYC for 15 years, and I am still amazed by all its details. This photo—one I took on my way to French Institute Alliance Française—is filled with details: trees outlined with lights (it looks gorgeous at night), the Paris Theater marquee (it is the oldest arthouse theater in NYC), the Joan Miró sculpture at the Solow Building, the Pulitzer Fountain on the left…there’s always something interesting to look at in this city.

Picking up a theme from a post yesterday, just came across this #BillBrandt portrait of #JoanMiro where he almost looks like an element in one of his own paintings.... (I'm assuming a single exposure in Miro's studio?) - the rhyming of the elements makes the portrait!
