That said, LinkedIn *does* seem to work!

Within a day of creating my profile I had been contacted by two recruiters, one of which actually had an interesting offer.

I expect they're too rushed for me to actually be a contender, but this is promising.

I much prefer having recruiters reach out to me, than spending hours filling out random forms online only to have my CV to go straight to the discard pile because of ageism or some brain-dead algorithm.

Over pints with a friend in London, I accepted my fate and caved: I now have a LinkedIn account again.

I closed my LinkedIn account years and years ago, due to excessive spam and the fact that they seemed to think MD5 was a reasonable algorithm with which to hash passwords.

Vaguely satisfied to report that the e-mail notification spam is still absolutely awful and they do NOT make it easy to turn it off. So many clicks and then wait a couple of days? Fuckers...

Please help me understand what I see on my #LinkedIn home.

Welp, I applied for my first job in London a couple of days ago, and have already been rejected!

I don't feel too bad - I don't have the management experience they were looking for. It was a long shot.

So I'm still looking for ethical tech work in London next winter. I'm very useful, someone should totally hire me!

Recent skills I haven't mentioned on this thread yet: I did some neat things with #Micropython, the #ESP32 and the #RaspberryPiPico. Fun tech.

I made a bit of progress on my London #jobsearch ... by which I mean I found a job listing site and browsed a bit.

It seems easy to find #DevOps roles which I would be qualified for; I was an #SRE at Google and have done lots of DevOps since for myself and others.

Sadly there seems to be a correlation between how evil a company is, and the size of the paycheck...

I'm also a little fuzzy on what the lead-time is for things like this, how long does hiring tak in the UK? Weeks? Months?
