It is interesting to observe #recruiters responses as someone who has a #career that is half Game Development and half #Enterprise Software Engineering. When I apply for Enterprise jobs I'm told either "You don't have enough #experience." 🙄 or "You'll just go back to #Gamedev when something is available." (Fair point, it was my original career). When I apply for Gamedev jobs I get "You'll have more luck with Enterprise Java." or "You'll just leave the industry again."

I'm finding it really hard to get back into the #saltmine these days. No, really hard. I've been kept busy researching topics of interest, like .Net, Blazor, and Unity, but nothing really focused. I need to buckle on the hard hat and climb back down and get some (paid) work done. I did have a pre-screen interview with FujiFilm's medical device division. #Today promises to be another busy one. T removed the carpet in A's room and the hallway, in preparation for putting down vinyl flooring (a much better idea when you have 4 cats and 2 dogs). I need to clean and touch up the windows in her room. A wants to test drive a Bolt (she test drove a Taos Saturday). I need to get started on my consulting work and toss out a few more resumes. #JobHunt Day 70 - My grandma used to say, "A watched pot doesn't boil." When I was a kid, I'd joke and say, "The watch phone doesn't ring." This was usually because I'd be waiting for a girl to call me back about a date. In my adult years, it's more like, "The watched inbox doesn't get the email invitation for an interview."

Well, I'm going to have to fill out the new #saltmine paperwork. I really can't put it off any longer without it getting embarassing. I should also take some more #Blazor courses so I can be ready to jump right in. I did toss out a few more C++ job resumes, one to Fujifilm health division and one to a financial services middleware type, both which sound interesting. I'd really love to explore some new industries! #JobHunt

Bungie has been quick to shoot me down, but no one else has even replied. I'm trying to be a little picky. There's no particular rush - glad the girls are out of college and earning full time! But don't let my wife hear me say that...

Had a very nice talk at my friend's company. I'm sure I could help but I'm not sure they can afford me. But the work is interesting. I really need to figure out what I want to do and how much I need to get paid for it. My current life situation doesn't demand a 40 hour week (although my wife would probably disagree 😹 ) but I'd probably write code anyway, so...

The worst part of writing Cover Letters for job applications is that I'm quite good at it, and still loathe it.

There's something so alien & draining about having to draw inferences & illustrations between my skills <=> what the role needs. Not because it's difficult (While it is, I'm Professionally Good at that work) but because it's specifically about *me*. The act of advocacy through a #hiring manager lens rather than a direct colleague is really awkward.

When you know you'd be great at some job, but your resumé does not say so, do you just swap out the job title in your resume and tell them how interested you are in your cover letter? IE how do you sidestep, when the paper trail wants you to stay on the same track? #workSearch #jobHunt

So I had additional talk with my boss yesterday about my resignation. And oh boy, so many red flags, huh?

80% of this talk was him talking being poor and stuff and government making things hard for him which while partially true (I am also not a fan of our government and my father have very small company so I know problems associated with having business) it is still not my business and in my opinion is highly inappropriate to talk about it in this situation.
