As I dig into becoming a small contributor Google maps and post (mainly) about free things to do in #Joburg and #SouthAfrica. I am increasingly surprised to see how Google maps is glossing over free experiences, help the user forget about distressed utilities and business and only reinforcing and supporting commercial success stories.

Finding it quite hard to post about things that don’t involve buying or selling things. Also surprised to a few people following. It’s an interesting experiment.

#Joburg has one of the world’s largest urban forests. With over 10 million trees across the city, it ranks 6th in the world in terms of tree coverage. The trees provide shade, oxygen, beauty and biodiversity to this vibrant metropolis. They also help reduce carbon emissions and improve the quality of life. Joburg's urban forest is a remarkable feat of human intervention, as most of the trees were planted since 1886. Today, there are many initiatives to preserve and expand this green legacy🌳🌲🌿

There’s a sketch piece to be written about claiming one’s VAT back at Oliver Tambo, I think. The judgement of what you bought on holiday, from other travellers waiting in line.

Most of all, the ignominy of having to rifle through yr suitcase to dig up 4 Woolworths bras to show half the airport & tipping the sand that’s in your shoes from the beach all over the counter etc. (First world problems, I know). Couldn’t pay me enough money to do that job #Joburg
