i'm never disappointed by 'etude in black' even though i've lost count of how many times i've seen it. it's got everything: the iconic duo of peter falk & john cassavetes, with a myrna loy cherry on top; the introduction of dog (rescued from certain death at the municipal pound by columbo) & fucking hilarious dialogue - including a ticking off by a young girl about the lieutenant leaving dog in a car with all the windows wound up.
