Miles Davis & John Coltrane - The Final Tour: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 6
It's groovy. This was actually one of the few #MilesDavis or #JohnColtrane or #PaulChambers albums I was not aware of. I have been collecting Miles and Coltrane collaborations since I was a teen. There is no end. This was a gift I gave myself this payday, along with two other albums, since it is so close to my birthday.

A "big band thing", he called it. So chaotic, even Coltrane forgot which take he liked. It went to press with the wrong version on, and Impulse! had to re-press it with the right one. Both takes are on this CD, for extra ear-bending fun.

#GreatAlbums1950s - #JohnColtrane – Blue Train (1958). Although Trane would only peak a couple of years later, on Giant Steps, this LP was a glorious leadup. “Moment’s Notice” and “Lazy Bird” are early evidence of Trane’s “sheets of sound” (Ira Gitler’s phrase), and the title track is a strutting blues soon to inform Trane’s work on Davis’s Kind of Blue. Good as Coltrane himself is, Lee Morgan – age 19 – steals the spotlight whenever his dazzling trumpet lights up a tune.

Me sorprende la calidad de un registro de #jazz argento tan antiguo, y apenas vio la luz el año pasado! #GatoBarbieri no necesita intro, sus acompañantes son capos y la selección de temas de #JohnColtrane, #TheloniusMonk y #ColePorter les queda de diez. Gran recordatorio que tengo que compartir otros sellos, hay cosas copadas dando vueltas.
