COVID-19 may be receding in the memory but Australia can’t seem to shake off “long Morrison”, the lingering effects of a prime ministership widely deemed to have had a pestilential effect on the country’s body politic. Since his departure from office 14 months ago, we have witnessed the emergence of a number of variants.

@Neil1808 It is going into the constitution to give it protection from future governments. ATSIC is a case in point. ATSIC was created by Labor under Bob Hawke. It had its challenges, not the least of which were corruption allegations against its head. It was #JohnHoward who said it wasn't delivering though, and that message was amplified by his media allies. It may well have been, but we will likely never know the actual truth as Howard disbanded it. had ATSIC been a constitutional requirement it would have been much harder for Howard to get rid of it.
