@sjanep @tscriado We love sharing our experience. In fact, our research centre (16 projects) has an INF project with this purpose in mind, helping us.
So, we have 1 major vault for our project, 4 people take part. It's organized w/ #Johnnydecimal and #Zettelkasten. Meeting notes, lit. notes, research, articles. Sync via Nextcloud. Sometimes we have conflicts. We add hashtags for todos or authorship.
Coding is in a separate, encrypted vault. Simple yet effective design: https://github.com/LaserStefan/obsidian-qualitative-analysis-environment
my new favorite word in japanese is `soumatou` and i'm calling my comprehensive #johnnyDecimal filing and organization tree #soumatou because if i understand correctly it's a word that means something like “when your entire life flashes before your eyes" and also something about a lantern.
my japanese is entirely due to #aikido and #reiki (hey #reiki #mastodon! #reikiMastodon #reikiDon?)

Dare I say I have found my tribe here in #PKMSocial ? I am going to spend a lot of time combing through the #local #PKMSocial feed and doing lots of bookmarking. Yay! 😍 :ablobwave: Words cannot describe how much I have fallen into learning these apps and methodologies.

Are you into #Zettlekasten, #JohnnyDecimal, #GettingThingsDone or other label/tag based organization? Your messages could easily sport `X-Priority` or `X-Label`.
Add your attachments directly to the email messages.
Collaborating on some software? It may (not) surprise you, but the Linux kernel actually *still* collaborates this way. And it's kind of awesome.
I'm pretty sure it's not, but there's no reason that #GitHub review comments couldn't be an email with some fancy headers.

@geffrey @obsidian what a great idea! i should think about doing something similar once i feel like i can start going all #johnnyDecimal everywhere, i'd totally public broadcast my #infosec research notes since most of it is public or was public at some point anyway.
i'm really sorry i missed your stream!
🚨 #johnnyDecimal alert!
the website got a huge overhaul and i am annotation the hell out of everything in sight 😂
(create a bespoke organizational and filing system for: your household, your self, your career, your clients, writing, reading, learning, _anything_ and when you do it tell me all about it because i love this sort of thing)
@henryfaber hi sorry to be a weirdo but i saw a flow diagram of a filing system on the #johnnyDecimal forum and i would like to know if you have documented your organizational further because i'd also like a look at the map that is legible when scaled up to my vision requirements please and thank you? <3

omg haiiiiii @bsag it's been a while! today you came up in a search looking for some tooling for #johnnyDecimal.
@nickanderson @johnnydecimal @svw i will check out org markup but in my case i am currently facing a backlog of hundreds of omnifocus tasks, accumulated tasks in workshop notes and daily notes (markdown files in obsidian vaults with context markup (eg - [>])).
still figuring out territories. my most pressing tasks and open loops to close are all in markdown and dataview queries which makes me wonder what i should pivot to and organizationally i need #johnnyDecimal to help.
@emory My advice is don't overthink it. Think big picture, put only what you need now in and then let your system evolve.
I've moved and combined sections, I've got 3 and four layers deep where I need them, I've used three digit numbers where I need the ability to have many more sections... So where I need it 24.12.005.15 is available.
Also use a good digital tool. #Emacs #orgmode means I can link between sections; so I can put all my notes about setting up some software tool in one section, reference it in another (i.e. how to set up a new machine), but if I move one of the sections the links still work..
Maybe *the* Johnny will have some thoughts?

okay i am trying to sandbox what a #johnnyDecimal structure would look like for my life, and then perhaps vaulting out some portions of that. if anyone in #PKM mastodon has any favorite bookmarks i'd love to see some examples. i'm still mindmapping and scribbling and nowhere near done and i tend to over-taxonomize.
i have a lot of crossover between two households. e.g. MDM for kid devices, but different infrastructure and projects will emerge in either and not sure how to group things.
@emacsen
- select various line widths/grids/page backgrounds, so blank pages, check boxes, etc. (templates)
- backup to "the cloud" - so you have access on your computer/phone if you don't happen to have your #remarkable handy
- read/edit PDF, epubs, etc.
- delete/undo/redo the various pen-types (pen/pencil/highlighter/paintbrush/...)
- copy/duplicate pages (I use this a lot when I'm speccing out process flows & presentations)
- copy/paste/resize/rotate elements - draw something in detail large enough to make it easy to edit, then resize it down so it's a small detail on the page
- convert hand writing to text
- email converted-to-text of page/pages or the underlying page(s)
- unlimited notebooks with unlimited pages (well, effectively) - so no trying to remember where you put the notes about X - they're all on their own notebook
- directory structure for notebooks and files (I use the #JohnnyDecimal approach so it's perfect for my structure)
- favourites
Um... Should I go on? 😂🤣
Just published an article and a video on how to deploy the Johnny Decimal system as a structure in Obsidian Personal Knowledge Management System. #obsidian #PKM #johnnydecimal #productivity #organisation https://ricraftis.au/obsidian/how-to-set-up-an-obsidian-vault-using-the-johnny-decimal-system/

I'm no stranger to [notebooks][1] and [text files][2]. They're shockingly powerful.
[#JohnnyDecimal][jd] is also super cool. Sidenote - did you know that CommonMark doesn't care what's in the brackets as long as it matches something somewhere in your doc? True story!

When I get home I am
- doing a #backup of Google Photos onto a local hard drive
- backing up Google Drive
- clearing my Laptop and PC of any files I don't need
- starting to organise the 1-3TB of digital detritus that I've accumulated over my life (maybe with #johnnydecimal, I'm not sure)
I don't want to be a digital hoarder!
I set up a Johnny Decimal system for myself earlier this year, but I sort of let it fall into a bit of a mess.
I'm diving back in with another attempt at solving my digital filing system.
I’m making a huge effort for putting every thing I have saved in a well-ordered #johnnydecimal folder system. I realised it’s way more difficult than I expected
