I agree completely. Arbitrary and disproportionate actions undermine legitimacy. The British #HouseofCommons learnt this the hard way - first with #JohnWilkes in the late 18th century, then #CharlesBradlaugh in the late 19th century and most recently #TonyBenn - who forced a change in the law so that hereditary members of the #HouseOfLords had the option of renouncing their status in order to remain eligible to stand fr election to the #HouseofCommons.

Despicable though the expulsion the #Nashville3 might be, it could give us the opportunity to see a repeat of one of my favourite #C18 political events, the Middlesex Election Affair, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middlesex_election_affair. @brotherjones and his colleagues make fine modern day #JohnWilkes. May his, and their speeches, be as widely circulated and as effective as were John Wilkes'.
A very constructive and sensible suggestion!
Let them keep on doing a #JohnWilkes until their opponents crack just as #Kinggeorge eventually did.
@KimPerales
#KingGeorge as you know him - #George the Third as we do - had #JohnWilkes expelled several times from the #HouseofCommons. It did not end well - except for #JohnWilkes himself - who was returned several times and later was #lordmayoroflondon !
One would have thought the #Scopes "monkey trial" would be enough for the reputation of Tennessee!
