I agree completely. Arbitrary and disproportionate actions undermine legitimacy. The British learnt this the hard way - first with in the late 18th century, then in the late 19th century and most recently - who forced a change in the law so that hereditary members of the had the option of renouncing their status in order to remain eligible to stand fr election to the .

Despicable though the expulsion the might be, it could give us the opportunity to see a repeat of one of my favourite political events, the Middlesex Election Affair, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middlese. @brotherjones and his colleagues make fine modern day .
