The verse's first half has relatively stagnant harmony, with 1 chord per 4 bars (assuming each three-beat unit is a bar).
The second half has more harmonic motion, about 1 chord per bar, but the bass mainly descends.
The refrain is also 1 chord/bar but the bass mainly ascends, giving a sense of momentum.
