Have you asked your uni library if they have some OA agreements? There are high quality journals that are completely #openaccess (like #JournalofCorporaAndDiscourse in my research field), and having an article or two in such journals is a good idea, but they are not well enough established yet to cover everything you need to stay in #academia . Then the library might help.
