Common sense and biology say that updating a gender marker on a license is as necessary as updating the picture as one ages.

But a conservative judge in Kansas who sided with the anti-trans Attorney General doesn't like reality. Her tissue-thin defense of stopping trans people from updating their documents was that doing so presents a "safety concern" because dang it the police need outdated misleading information that confuses things.

Fox News pays up for trashing the reputation of voting machine company, Dominion, over its reporting of the 2020 presidential election. And yet the newsreader on the BBC reads a statement from Fox saying, "We uphold the highest journalistic standards."
No Fox, you don't uphold any standards, as this settlement proves.
I'm sickened and ashamed to hear journalists reciting such meaningless comments.
If an organisation gives you such nonsense, you must call it out.

A fine essay in Granta by Amitava Kumar that weaves together the political hatred inherent in Hindu nationalism and the heat crisis accompanying climate change to render a troubling picture of India today.

Anyone know anyone who works at the BBC that we can talk to about getting official news/bots/journalists on mastodon/fediverse?

I’d like an explanation on servers. What would happen if someone bought a server from someone and just shut it down? Like, as an extreme example, could Republicans offer money to the owner of a server that was home to many left-leaning journalists and then shut it down? Would all the user accounts on that server be effectively dead? If yes, seems like a huge flaw.
