I guess there was no better way to finish off the #jpgu2023 Earth science meeting than with an #earthquake. Don't worry, beers were had after! https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/news/20230526_43/
An exciting week is slowly coming to an end here at the Japan Geosciences Union Meeting 2023 in #Chiba, #Japan! 🗾
It is my first time attending #JpGU in person and an opportunity to learn a lot - about great scientific progress and efforts, about our planet and even our solar system neighbours!
Big thanks to the organizers of session M-IS01 on Northern #Eurasia for inviting my talk and having me co-chair parts of their session.

Watching some presentations at #JPGU2023 on the proposed #Anthropocene geological marker at Beppu Bay in Japan. It looks like 1953 is the representative year when all the anthropogenic markers become noticeable. It still remains to be seen if this becomes an official geological boundary! #ClimateChange #Paleoclimate

One interesting presentation that I saw today at #JPGU2023 was about a paper I somehow missed last year by Yamamoto et al, which has a high resolution record of CO₂ going back to 1.5 million years ago, from leaf wax carbon isotopes in eastern India. The data indicate that CO₂ levels in interglacial periods increased after the Mid-Pleistocene Transition. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41561-022-00918-1
I made it to the Japan Geoscience Union conference. I am looking forward to meeting my fellow geoscientists this week. #AcademicChatter #jpgu2023

I just found out that my presentation at next month's Japan Geoscience Union meeting is considered an "invited presentation". No pressure, eh? #AcademicChatter #JPGU2023 https://confit.atlas.jp/guide/event/jpgu2023/subject/MIS15-P18/advanced
